Level 2 Early Years Practitioner

  • Duration: 18 Months
  • Typical Job Titles: Nursery Assistant, Early Years Practitioner, Nursery Practitioner, Nursery Nurse, Assistant childminder
  • Typical Job Duties: To work and interact directly with children on a day to day basis, supporting planning of and delivery of activities. An EYP will support the observation and assessment of each child and contribute to their learning experiences. An EYP will work as part of a team under the guidance and supervision of an Early Years Educator.
  • Apprentices without level 1 English and Maths will need to achieve this level and apprentices without level 2 English and Maths will need to take the tests for this level prior to taking the end-point assessment.

Level 3 Early Years Educator

  • Duration: 19 Months
  • Typical Job Title: Nursery Nurse, Childminder. May work in a range of settings including day care, children’s centers, pre-schools.
  • Typical Job Duties: To work alone or to supervise others to deliver the EYFS requirements. Has Key Person responsibility, ensuring each child feels safe and secure. Plans and supervises child initiated and adult let activities.
  • Apprentices without Level 2 English and Maths will need to achieve this level prior to taking their end point assessment.

Level 4 Early Years Advanced Practitioner

  • Duration: 12 Months
  • Typical Job Titles: Nursery Nurse, Room Leaders/Supervisors
  • You must be employed in an early years setting and already hold a Level 3 Early Years/Childcare qualification.
  • Typical Job Duties: Promote health and wellbeing, work with the families implementing change, special educational needs, mentoring and leadership.
  • This qualification is not currently government funded, therefore you would be required to take out an advanced learning loan. This course can also be paid for privately.

Level 5 Early Years Lead Practitioner

  • Duration: 24 Months
  • Typical Job Titles: Room leader, Deputy Manager, Senior Practitioner, Lead Practitioner, Higher Level Teaching & Learning Assistant, Education Welfare Officer
  • Typical Job Duties: To be a proactive and influential practitioner, working directly with the children and leading day to day practice at operational level. You will be responsible for supporting the quality of learning and development within your setting. You will lead on the operational aspects and will be responsible for leading other practitioners.
  • Must achieve Level 2 in English and Maths
