Residential Childcare

These qualifications are designed to equip individuals with the knowledge, skills, and behaviours to support children, young people and families, to achieve positive and sustainable change in children and young peoples lives.

 

Individuals must be employed in a residential childcare setting, including, but not limited to; Independent and Semi-independent provision; Supported Accommodation and Secure Children's Homes.

It is a mandatory requirement for residential care workers in childcare settings to achieve the Level 3 Qualification within two years of commencing employment, aligning with Regulations 32 of The Children’s Home Reg 2015.

Qualifications

Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare

The qualification enables the individual to gain essential skills and knowledge to support children and young people in residential childcare settings, including: wellbeing and resilience, positive relationships and attachments, health and safety, sexual exploitation, communication, positive behaviour and positive outcomes.

​

Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare

This qualification provides the skills and knowledge needed to manage practice and lead others in residential childcare settings for children and young people and enables the learner to gain essential skills and knowledge for leading in a residential childcare setting, including leading and managing a team; leading and managing group living; leading practice to support children and young people; and implementing policies and procedures.
